Handgun Range Class
Handgun Shooting
at the Range
Live-Fire Instruction for Revolvers and Semi-Automatic Pistols
Course Overview
This is where the fundamentals become real. Our Handgun Range Class puts you on the firing line with expert instruction — whether you are pulling a trigger for the very first time or you are a seasoned shooter looking to tighten your groups and clean up bad habits.
We offer both male and female instructors, and we work with revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. If you are new and do not own a firearm yet, we will bring 3–4 handguns for you to try, along with approximately 300 rounds of ammunition. If you are experienced, bring your own gun and ammo — we will work with what you have got. Either way, there is always room for improvement.
What You Will Cover
- Range safety — Muzzle discipline, trigger finger awareness, and range-specific protocols drilled before a single round is fired
- Stance — We will work through both the Weaver and Isosceles stances and figure out which one is right for your body and shooting style
- Grip — Proper hand placement, pressure, and technique for both right- and left-handed shooters — your support hand does most of the work
- Trigger control — How to press the trigger straight back, not laterally, for clean shots without pulling off target
- Breath control — Managing your breathing cycle so it works with your shot instead of against it
- Sight alignment and sight picture — Dominant eye identification, front sight focus, and consistent sight picture for tighter groups on target
- Follow-through and recoil management — Controlling the gun after the shot breaks so your second shot comes faster and more accurately
- Loading and unloading — Safe, confident manipulation of your firearm on the firing line
Who Is This Class For?
This class works for a wide range of skill levels. Complete beginners who have taken our Safe Gun Handling class are ready for the range. Intermediate shooters who want focused coaching on specific skills will get just as much out of it. And experienced shooters — even if you have been shooting for years, a trained set of eyes watching your form will almost always find something to improve.
If you have never handled a firearm before, we strongly recommend taking the Safe Gun Handling class first. Knowing safety rules, basic terminology, and how your firearm works means we can spend your range time actually shooting — not catching up on fundamentals.
