Junior Firearm
Safety Course

Educational, Informative, and Fun — Ages 6 to 16

Safety is the #1 priority. This class is designed to remove the curiosity and mystery that surrounds firearms — the leading cause of accidents involving kids and guns in the home.

Course Overview

Kids are naturally curious. When they encounter something they don't understand — especially something they've been told not to touch — that curiosity can be dangerous. Our Junior Firearm Safety Course takes a proactive approach: instead of hoping your child never encounters a firearm, we teach them exactly what to do if they do.

This class is designed for children ages 6 to 16 and focuses entirely on safety. It's educational, age-appropriate, and yes — it's fun. Your child will walk away with a genuine understanding of firearms, a healthy respect for what they can do, and the confidence to make safe decisions. The mystery is gone, and that's exactly the point.

What Your Child Will Learn

  • The fundamental rules of gun safety — Taught in a way that kids actually remember and internalize
  • Parts of a firearm — What each part is called, what it does, and how a gun works
  • How to tell if a gun is loaded — Visual and physical checks so they can identify a loaded firearm
  • What to do if they find a gun — Stop, don't touch, leave the area, tell an adult — drilled until it's automatic
  • Why guns are not toys — Real-world understanding that replaces Hollywood myths and video game misconceptions

A Note to Parents

If you keep firearms in your home, your children need to know how to be safe around them. Hiding guns and hoping for the best is not a safety strategy. Teaching your child what a gun is, how it works, and what to do if they encounter one — that's real protection.

This class doesn't teach your child to shoot. It teaches them to be safe. It's designed to complement the secure storage practices you should already have in place at home.

Secure Storage — Your Responsibility

As a parent and gun owner, proper storage is non-negotiable. Here are the key requirements to keep your children safe:

  • On your person — If the gun is on you, you're in complete control. Your children are safe.
  • In a locked safe — If not on you, a locked safe is the next best option. The firearm can be loaded inside the safe.
  • Cable lock through the action — If not on you or in a safe, a cable lock through the ejector port and magazine well renders it inoperable.
  • Trigger lock — If none of the above, a trigger lock prevents the firearm from being fired.

If you use a programmable safe, set the code to 8–10 digits, not 4. A biometric (fingerprint) safe or a dial combination safe are also excellent options. If you write down a combination, store it where your children cannot find it.
