Safe Gun Handling
Safe Gun Handling
Build Confidence with the Fundamentals of Rifle and Pistol Handling
Course Overview
Every responsible gun owner starts here. Our Safe Gun Handling class is designed for men and women who are new to firearms and want to build real confidence before heading to the range. Whether you just purchased your first handgun, inherited a firearm, or simply want to feel more comfortable around guns, this course gives you the foundation you need.
This is a hands-on, one-on-one session — not a crowded classroom lecture. You'll work directly with an instructor at your own pace, handling firearms in a safe, controlled environment. By the end of the hour, you'll understand how your firearm works, how to handle it safely, and how to build the core skills that every other shooting discipline depends on.
What You'll Learn
- Firearm safety rules — The fundamental rules that prevent accidents, drilled until they become second nature
- Proper grip — How to hold your pistol or rifle correctly for control, comfort, and accuracy
- Stance & body position — Setting up a stable platform that manages recoil and keeps you balanced
- Sight alignment & sight picture — Understanding how your sights work and how to use them consistently
- Trigger control & follow-through — The single biggest factor in accurate shooting, taught from the ground up
- Breath control — How breathing affects your shot and how to manage it
- Loading & unloading — Safe, confident procedures for making your firearm ready and clearing it
Who Is This Class For?
This class is perfect for absolute beginners — people who have little to no experience handling firearms. It's also a great refresher for anyone who hasn't shot in a while and wants to rebuild their fundamentals before getting back into it.
We see a lot of new gun owners who bought a firearm for home defense but haven't had proper training yet. If that's you, this is the right starting point. The skills you learn here carry directly into our Concealed Carry and Handgun Range classes when you're ready to take the next step.
What to Bring
You're welcome to bring your own pistol (unloaded, and please let us know ahead of time what model you have). If you don't own a firearm yet, we have a good selection of pistols available for you to use during the class. No ammunition is needed — this is a handling and fundamentals class, not a live-fire session.
